Hello, it is lovely to meet you!
Olivia Skipsey (previously Baillieu) runs Loop-the-Loop Club.
Olivia is an experienced Prep School English teacher with a Secondary PGCE who has taught students aged 3-18. Previously, she studied languages at Edinburgh University, La Universidad de Buenos Aires and Universita degli studi di Verona. Since then, she has prepared numerous students of all abilities for a myriad of Entrance Exams with an exemplary success rate of entry into first choice schools. These also encompass successful scholarships for schools, including but not limited to; St Paul’s School, St.Paul’s Girls’ School, Winchester College, Eton College, Putney High School, King’s College School Wimbledon and Harrow School. She has an in-depth understanding of how to motivate students and a profound knowledge of the skills required for the aforementioned English exams. She can gauge how to help each individual quickly and effectively and has developed strategies and acronyms that have been tried and tested in many an exam hall.
She promotes a holistic approach and founded a Peer Mentoring scheme for 13 year olds to mentor 8 year olds where play, empathy and collaboration were at the forefront. She saw a noticeable increase in happiness, drive and achievement from both the mentors and their mentees over the first term. This project reinforced her belief that putting wellbeing first breeds success, both in and out of the classroom. This informs her style of teaching. To this day, she is immeasurably proud of her pioneers and the legacy they built together.
